Thirsty plants
Today's image is titled "Thirsty plants" and was photographed by Kristian Knutsen.
Despite the rain on Saturday, much of south-central Wisconsin remains abnormally dry. City crews have been kept busy over the summer watering plants around the Capitol Square, along State Street, and on Madison's 6,000-plus acres of parkland, under a glowering sun. Some respite may be on the way, with a chance of precipitation every day through the end of the week, but it's likely the thirst will continue, as drought conditions are forecast to persist through early autumn.
