"After today's weird on/off stormy weather and shifting temps, everyone seemed to need to investigate the status of the lakes," wrote Richardson in the caption for the photo, taken on Friday evening on the nigh-overflowing shores of Lake Mendota at Tenney Park on the near east side of Madison. "A lot of people were out on Tenney Pier at sunset and over taking a look at the locks. It was a beautiful evening with an exhilarating post-storm breeze blowing, but there was a clear sense of worry in the air as well."
Dane and the rest of southern Wisconsin remain under an official Flood Warning by the National Weather Service, though it will expire early Monday afternoon pending any further precipitation. That's unlikely, though, and the forecast through the rest of the week looks beautiful with pleasantly warm temperatures and mostly sunny skies.
The waters of the Yahara chain of lakes remains high, with the lake level data from Dane County showing that the four largest bodies of water near or above their historic highs.
