Cheesy Halloween
Today's image is titled "Cheesy Halloween" and was photographed by Kristian Knutsen.
This t-shirt, Cheesehead and sandwich trifecta graces a window at the House of Wisconsin Cheese, a fromage and Skonnie tchotchke shop located at the top of State Street, just steps from the Capitol. Despite the size and popularity of Halloween in Madison, there aren't many merchants on State Street that sell kitsch to go with the costumes. In 2005, the now-closed Larry B's diner sold Halloween-themed t-shirts, and this year the leadership from the Halloween Action Committee is sporting Freakfest-branded duds at their press conferences. For the time being, though, it looks like a Mad City "Freak You!' is the primary Halloween tourist's souvenir option.
