Rep. Joe Parisi rose to introduce Jackson, who was standing in the vestibule outside the chamber.
Parisi said he and Jackson were "locked out" of the Capitol this morning for more than an hour, and he said it would be fitting for such a prominent national figure to offer a prayer.
Jackson said he stood before the members "with a great sense of humility." His prayer offered blessings for the governor, the president and he added "bless this boy as it deliberates."
You can bet there were more than a few Republicans who nearly ground their teeth to dust over that move, as well as a few who tipped their hats to Parisi beating them at their own game.
Frankly, if the Democrats are looking for a way to stall to eternity, their only option may be constantly invoking prayer for one reason or another. Why don't they line up 1000 ministers to pray for the people of Wisconsin? Either that or stand up to congratulate colleagues on the birth of a child, grandchild, great-grandchild, niece, nephew or next-door-neighbor. They have to applaud for that.
