I was going to write a post about how much of an asset Terrence Wall could be to Democrats before the write-in campaign began. Now the point is simply too obvious to make.
Here's the story: Some weird group called The People Speak has launched a campaign to nominate Terrence Wall as the GOP's Senate candidate via write-in. Wall says he is not involved. Nevertheless, Wall has not kept his hurt feelings secret since he got shut out of the endorsement process to Ron Johnson, a millionaire who doesn't have questions about his tax record to answer.
As I see it, there are three plausible theories.
(1) The Democrats set up the site as an attack site, hoping to set up conflict in the Republican Party and get some negative news coverage of Johnson. It couldn't hurt. If it gains momentum then it could carry into the general election, and take votes away from Johnson.
(2) It's Wall's idea. He is playing dumb right now to see if the movement gains some traction, at which point he will "answer the call of the people," and lead the campaign.
(3) It's just some crazy people, either Wall fans or satirists, who are trying to get in the news.
We'll just have to wait and see what happens. I just wonder if TWall will be forking over another contribution to TBall anytime soon. Then we'll really know whose side he's on.
