Wow. I remember when The Sconz turned one. Now it's been a full year since The Sconz has been housed at The Daily Page and the blog is coming up on its second birthday at the end of May.
When I switched to the Daily Page last year it had been roughly one year since I first designed The Sconz while studying abroad in France, a country that was rattled by enormous union strikes that all of us UW students said we could never imagine seeing where we came from.
Maybe it's this time of year that I get itching to try something new, because as of Wednesday, The Sconz will be extending its inevitable takeover of the media into the realm of AM radio, where I will be producing a new show on WTDY 1670 that features host Kurt Baron. The show does not have name yet, but it will focus on all things local, including politics, culture, arts, food and drink.
As a result, I may be blogging less but I certainly will not stop blogging. One almost-certain casualty of the change will be Brunch Links. As much as some of the loyal readers have expressed their love of Brunch Links, it can be a rather tedious process and it tends to attract fewer readers than most other posts. If the outcry is too loud, however, I may have a version of it later in the day, such as Lunch Links or Drink Links (evening).
This blog wears me out from time to time, and it certainly hasn't made me rich (there's a good chance it's made me poor), but I am not ready to give up the fun I have writing on a daily basis and delight the People of Sconz Nation have provided me in their comments, emails and the occasional phone call.
Keep it up! And tune into the radio show between 10-11 a.m. 1670 AM. And give us a call and let your voice ring out over the land of Sconzin.
