Given the usual apathy state politics receives in my conversations with friends and acquaintances, I am pleasantly surprised by the response the governor's legislation has provoked all over the state. If nothing else, Wisconsinites recognize the importance of the public sector.
The latest: WEAC has called for its 98,000 members to skip work and protest tomorrow. From what I'm hearing all Madison and Milwaukee schools will be closed. Students from all over the state, from Appleton to Madison, have walked out or are planning to walk out. UW-Madison student government has voted to support a student walk out tomorrow.
I am not sure yet, but there are indications that the UW faculty Senate is going to support a walk-out as well.
At the Capitol today, I talked to several teachers who had either called in sick or taken a day off to protest, as well as Madison Common Council candidate Sam Stevenson, a student of public health at UW. These are just a couple of the many videos I've uploaded to the Sconz Nation youtube channel!
