The protest started at Library Mall, where at 10:00 a.m. there were several hundred students assembled, cheering as student leaders riled up the crowd with the help of a shoddy, but functional bullhorn and a small stereo meekly emitting "Now Walk it Out," by UnK. ASM Council member Tyler Junger, who I talked to the other night at the Capitol, told students they were taking part in a historic moment.
Ten minutes later, the crowd had doubled, and by the time the students began the march down State Street there seemed, from my amateur head-counting abilities, to be at least 2,000 students and faculty marching.
By the time the crowd reached the Capitol, 15 minutes later, the crowd seemed to have doubled yet again, as it stretched for two blocks down the street.
