I was wondering who all the people with "Moving Wisconsin Forward" signs on the steps of the Capitol represented. I guessed that it was an education rally, not only because many of them had Feingold, Baldwin and even a few Manski stickers, but because "forward" is a slogan whose roots in Wisconsin can be traced to the Progressive movement, especially in its emphasis on investments in public services, such as public schools and higher education, as a means of developing an enlightened, educated people.
Ironically, however, when I googled "Moving Wisconsin Forward," the first result was for WMC's "Moving Wisconsin Forward" plan. The WEAC rally came later in the search results.
On a somewhat separate note, I believe I mentioned earlier this week that polling data seems to indicate that Democrats should stay away from the message that "we need to move forward." It's a message that Obama has been using, as well as some Democrats, including Tammy Baldwin. It is better to meet the Tea Party-fueled anti-incumbent anger head-on, by accusing the opposition of supporting Wall St.
