With seven core presenters representing almost all the major medals and awards in children's literature, the Wisconsin Book Festival's events for kids and families have a higher per-capita rate of literary laurels than any of this year's other program tracks.
Madison's Kevin Henkes is a winner of the prestigious Caldecott Medal for his book Kitten's First Full Moon and also a Newbery laureate for Olive's Ocean. Ann Bausum of Beloit, author of With Courage & Cloth, is a recipient of the Jane Addams Award. Lois Lowry, the Massachusetts author of Anastasia Krupnik and Number the Stars, is a two-time Newbery Medal-winner. Marilyn Nelson has twice been the recipient of the Pushcart Prize. Madison's Kashmira Sheth won the Zindel First Novel Award for Blue Jasmine. And both Barbara Joosse and Amy Timberlake are recipients of a Golden Kite Award.
