At a time when most people think they have to cut back on dining out, entertainment and shopping, the winter edition of Fashion Fridays, a springboard for A collection by Madison stylist Isthmus newspapers that are held together with a rubber band. Challenged to keep material costs as low as possible, she says these styles are something anyone can achieve, and plans to publish how-to guides on her Charm bracelets made from individual thrift store pieces and formal dresses styled for a night on the town are two more of the innovative collections to be featured at the show. This is the third Fashion Friday to date. The goal of the series, says organizer Kristi Moe, is to raise awareness for the local fashion industry, particularly local hair stylists and makeup artists. "Usually designers and boutiques have clear ideas of what they want to showcase," she says. "I created this event for stylists to have the stage to shine." Moe and Rosalee hope this event will challenge some of the misperceptions of the fashion industry as a whole, and encourage people to cultivate their own personal style. "There's a stigma with fashion, that it's only for people who are young, 'beautiful,' and rich," says Moe. "All the shows I do are geared toward addressing that, showing people that fashion goes beyond surface." This latest Fashion Fridays show will be held on Friday, February 20, at the Cardinal Bar. Tickets are $15 at the door or $10 in advance, and can be purchased online. A free after-party with DJ Nick Nice follows.
