If you're looking for concert live footage from shows in Madison -- particularly of the indie rock variety -- then the podcast NO! This is What I Call Music podcast is the place to start. Shot, rendered, edited and ultimately crafted by Aaron Veenstra, the podcast features a regular dose of live music as seen from the concert floor.
The first video features the Mates of State performing their song "Ha Ha" from their 2003 album Team Boo. The increasingly recognized duo consisting of Kori Gardner and Jason Hammel appeared at the Orpheum Stage Door on Sept. 22, headlining a concert that also featured the Starlight Mints and Molitor.

- Harvey Danger played "Moral Centralia" at Der Rathskeller on Sept. 29.
- So Many Dynamos tried out a newer song during the same show at Der Rathskeller in an opening set.
- Starlight Mnits perform "Pumpkin" during their show at the Orpheum Stage Door on Sept. 22. They were the touring opener for Mates of State.
- The other opening act at the Sept. 22 show on the smaller Orpheum stage was by Molitor. The Milwaukee band played "When the Lights Go Out" in the later part of their set.
- The Gossip performed "Keeping You Alive" during its Sept. 8 show at The Annex.
- Also performing at the Sept. 8 show at the Annex was Erase Errata, who played "Dust" in their opening set.
- The first opening act at The Gossip show was Mika Miko, who played two early songs of theirs in addition to tracks from their debut full-length album.
- Madison's own Baghdad Scuba Review played "Crimes of the Mind" as part of its show at WSUM's Party in the Park on Sept. 2.
- Also performing at Party in the Park was the 1090 Club, which played "Hooray" during their early afternoon set on Sept. 2 in James Madison Park.
- A resurgent Cracker performed their '90s classic "Euro-trash Girl" at the High Noon Saloon on Aug. 31.
- Cincinnati's Junior Revolution performed "Enemy Lines" at an Aug. 20 show at the High Noon Saloon.
- Longtime local favorites the German Art Students played at Lunchtime Live on the Capitol Square on July 12. The track "Dick Clark" is from their new album.
- Stepping nearly a year back in time, Thunderbirds are Now! played "Sound Issues/Smart Ideas" at a Halloween-themed show at the Annex on Oct. 29, 2005.
- The final video, hailing from the early days of 2005, features emergent dance-sensations OK Go, who played "No Sign of Life" at their Feb. 18, 2005 show at the Annex.
Turning back to the Mates of State show a couple of weeks back, more images of the show can be found here and here on Flickr. Another Mates of State fan approved of the show, writing, "they breathed life into the dancefloor, Kori Gardner's vocals hanging sweetly in the air, and Jason Hammel absolutely pounding the drums like wickedly arythmic heartbeats."
