As the warmer half of the year recedes, so does yet another summer of live music on the UW Memorial Union Terrace. One relatively new Madison-based band that played there a couple times this summer was Sol, a breezy pop five-piece that can be viewed in more than a few online videos. These include clips from their first performance at the Terrace in April (their prize for winning a UW Battle of the Bands contest), as well as from another show at the campus-area club Madison Avenue. The most recent video of the band features their Sep. 15 performance at the Terrace, where they opened for the similarly-styled Mike Droho of the now-departed campus favorites The Profits.
Six video clips of Sol shows -- including their most recent featuring playing "I Don't Need No Doctor" -- follow below.
Other live performances by the band in pixilated form include:
- "Soulace," performed live at Madison Avenue.
- "Why," also performed live at Madison Avenue.
- A third song as played at Madison Avenue.
- A contest at a UW residence hall.
- "Blind," which as performed at the Memorial Union Terrace for the UW All-Campus Party mentioned above.
- More of their springtime show on the Terrace.
The band consists of Rob Garza (percussion/backup vox), David Bayer (Keys, mascot), Jake Hausman(lead guitar/backup vox), Collin Kreple(bass guitar/backup vox), and Charles Kim (guitar/lead vox). More information about Sol -- including recordings of "Why," "Soulace," "Grass Skirts," and "Amazing" -- can be found at the band's MySpace page.
