Black Joe Lewis and his band are more vibrant than ever on their first record for big indie label Vagrant Records. Their blues, funk and soul sound goes straight to the gut.
Guitars and horns intermingle on many of the album's songs, and Lewis' passionate delivery will convince you that he means what he sings. Album opener "Skulldiggin'" starts with gritty guitars, but Lewis promptly takes control with powerful vocals, steering the song into deeply funky territory. Filled with energy, "Come to My Party" is an anthem for the kind of bash that goes until the break of dawn.
