Madison's Crustacean Records is taping at the High Noon Saloon on Dec. 15 for the label's first DVD. "We have released over 70 albums over the course of 14 years," says label co-owner Jake Shut, "so it is about time we put something out with a visual dimension as well. We see it both as a vital promotional tool as well as product people will want to buy."
Shut says that the DVD should also help dispel the notion that he and majority owner Chris Langkamp only focus on hard, in-your-face rock acts.
"Both of us have a wide array of music we feel passionate about and want that same flexibility in terms of the artists we work with," he explains. "Right now the label varies from John Kruth, who creates an eclectic musical mishmash of roots, world music, pop, with largely acoustic instruments, to bands like Droids Attack or Things Fall Apart that are considered quite heavy and at the more extreme end of hard-rock music."
Kruth, Mad Trucker Gone Mad, Skintones and more play the Crustacean DVD taping at the High Noon Saloon on Dec. 15.
