Madison hasn't had much time to enjoy Giant People - I've managed to catch the young guitar-pop outfit once. At best, the band reminds me of Superchunk and the Weakerthans in lots of little ways that add up to a lot of charm, but its Aug. 24 show at the Project Lodge will be its last.
Giant People plans to eventually cap off its short run with an eight-song LP (the stuff currently up on its Bandcamp page doesn't quite capture things like the live set does). Guitarist-singer Tyler Fassnacht is starting a new band called Fire Retarded, and bassist Claire Nelson-Lifson will continue playing in the New Years Gang.
