The past few years have seen the return of 1990s fads like flannel shirts and floral-patterned jeans, but not ska-punk music. I'm glad. Ska's supposed to be dorky. When it's not in the spotlight, as it was two decades ago, you can skank like no one's watching at an I Voted for Kodos concert.
Hence the title of the local band's new EP. With lyrics like "The rest of the world can go to hell tonight," the title track celebrates those glorious moments when there's no pressure to be cool. A blast of horns gives the intro a dynamic punch, and the tempo will leave you breathless. "Geoffrey Don't Cry" is more subdued, putting Rick Bisenius' emotive vocals front and center.
