The winter concert season hasn't officially begun, but there's been a flurry of activity among local bookers, promoters and show organizers as of late. The newest event comes from the crew that launched the Lost City Music Festival this past July. From the first day of winter (Friday, Dec. 21) to the last (Tuesday, March 19), they'll host concerts by local and regional artists every other week at the Dragonfly Lounge.
According to John Kruse, the series' head honcho, the lineup for the Dec. 21 kickoff show includes local performers William Z. Villain, Pushmi-Pullyu and Noxroy, plus Milwaukee's Soul Low. Throughout the winter, fans can catch performances by dozens of other experimental acts, including the noisy Chicago pop duo Brontosaurus (March 2) and Control, an angular post-rock trio that calls Madison home (Jan. 5). The final show in the series will feature hip-hop DJ and producer Man Mantis and Ever Ending Kicks, the newest project helmed by Paul Benson of Mount Eerie's ever-expanding roster.

In addition to keeping Madison entertained, the goal of these concerts is to raise enough money to host another summer festival. A quarter of the proceeds from the series will go toward this end.
