Listeners either get plenty to geek out over or too much to process with this concept record. Brooklyn psych-pop sister duo Prince Rama dreamed up 10 fictional bands - complete with corny bios and photos - all of whom died in the apocalypse and all of whom Prince Rama channel here. As I.M.M.O.R.T.A.L.I.F.E., they conjure new-wave dance on "Those Who Live for Love Will Live Forever." As Guns of Dubai, they hit upon Indian pop with "Blade of Austerity." Industrial and Riot Grrrl influences blend into the pastiche as well.
The results are mixed, but Top 10 rarely ceases to be compelling, never ceases to be weird, and always manages to be fun.
