It's no surprise that Madison's world-famous jazz and pop musicians - including bassist Richard Davis, saxophonist Roscoe Mitchell and pianist-singer Ben Sidran - would be in demand around the world. And Garbage, our homegrown rock stars, have gone just about everywhere a band can go. Four tours, ranging from six to thirteen months, have taken them to Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
Garbage's tours haven't always been trouble-free. In 2002, during the tour to support their album beautifulgarbage, drummer Butch Vig bowed out twice, once with Hepatitis A and then later with an ear infection. The band canceled European dates at the end of their most recent tour in the fall of 2005. A press release explained, "The band feel they have somewhat overextended themselves." Not long after ending the tour, Garbage announced the start of an "indefinite hiatus."
