"What I Know" finds emcee Horton the Irrelevant and his DJ, August the Creep, in an expansive move. The backing track is dominated by an aqueous electric piano sample that August first loops, then cuts up and reanimates.
Meanwhile, a lulling beat that could have appeared on any number of trip-hop experiments from the '90s provides the foundation for Horton's rhymes, which reach linguistic climax in the first 30 seconds of the tune as he strings together 'v' and 'f' sounds in a masterful display of alliteration.
The subject of the rhyme is a little obscure -- there is no lyric sheet in the booklet from their recently released album Strange Passengers -- but the point is Horton is in the know and the myopic dude he's describing ain't. Judging from how deliberately his tongue slithers, that probably isn't much of an exaggeration.
