A second consecutive Rose Bowl invitation for the Wisconsin Badgers lends itself to rhymes and beats far easier than, say, a trip to the TicketCity, BBVA Compass or Beef O' Brady's bowl games. As a result, Anthony Lamarr, along with Cascia Films, has released a 2012 version of his popular "We're Smelling Roses" hip-hop tribute just days after the Badgers beat Michigan State for the Big Ten title.
Some of the lyrics from the 2011 version have been updated in order to name-check stars of this season's team like quarterback Russell Wilson, tailback and Heisman Trophy finalist Montee Ball and the lyrically awkward Jared Abbrederis.
It's a testament to Lamarr's abilities as an MC that he manages to rhyme the sophomore receiver's name. The video includes a bit targeted at the Badgers' opponent, the Oregon Ducks, and extras sporting "Quack is Whack" t-shirts. There's even a brief cameo by interim UW-Madison chancellor David Ward.
