Final Four week! No basketball for almost six full days, and little for fans to do except smile while the national press explains how wonderful the Badgers are. Feels great, yes? Do your coworkers a favor and keep those warm feelings going. Don't be the guy who bores the entire office by spouting the following dumb crap:
Kentucky is a team you don't want to play right now! Nonsense. If you're still playing in April, Kentucky's exactly the type of team you expect to face. The Badgers don't give a rip who they're matched against; if they do, they're in trouble before they start Saturday.
Wisconsin can score, sure, but ultimately defense wins championships. A basketball court is split in half for good reason. If the Badgers cut down the nets Monday night, it's because they finally found a combination of good offense on one end and quality D on the other. Remember UW vs. Southwest Missouri State in 1999? UW vs. Xavier in 2009? Those other teams in the West regional that played lock-down defense, like American University and Arizona? Uh-huh.
The Badgers will win it for Bo's dad. Bo Ryan clearly loves and misses his father, but the rest of us probably should leave this alone.
Bucky does things the right way. The implication here is that Kentucky doesn't, which is precious. The Wildcats compete for championships while demonstrating that the NCAA's definition of "student-athlete" is an almost complete mockery when applied to big-time sports. (By the way, Badgers fans -- your team has been to 16 straight NCAA tournaments itself and is part of the same mess, like it or not.) Kentucky coach John Calipari has turned the one-and-done hoops business model into an art form. As usual, his best players and leading scorers are freshmen, and most will likely leave Lexington for the NBA in a few weeks.
