Madison Memorial makes its ninth straight appearance at the Kohl Center for the WIAA state boys basketball tournament Friday night and dating to at least the Jeronne Maymon (currently at the University of Tennessee) and Vander Blue (Marquette University) eras, it's a tradition for several players to show off intricate and impressive haircuts at state.
Three of the team's veterans -- seniors Ngijol Songolo and Jamar Morris and junior Jester Weah -- let Isthmus tag along to JP Hair Design as they got cleaned up on Thursday afternoon. Also at the shop, a lively spot over the lunch hour, was Judge Paul Higginbotham of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, who quizzed the players on their futures.
Memorial plays Germantown in the state semifinals Friday night at the Kohl Center, 6:30 pm. The game will be televised locally on WKOW, Channel 27.
