Madison-based Forward Theater Company has announced the plays in its 2012-2013 season. It will be the company's fourth season, and its first as an Overture Center resident company. All the performances will take place in Overture's Playhouse.
Appropriately for autumn in an election year, the season begins with 44 Plays for 44 Presidents (Sept. 20-Oct. 7), a comic, chronological look at the White House's famous occupants. It's from Chicago's Neo-Futurists, of Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind fame. Forward artistic director Jennifer Uphoff Gray directs.
Next comes Donald Margulies' Pulitzer-nominated drama Collected Stories (Jan. 17-Feb. 3), about a writer and her assistant; it will star American Players Theatre's Sarah Day, a Forward advisory company member. The season concludes with David Lindsay-Abaire's Tony-nominated Good People (April 4-21), about a down-on-her-luck Boston woman who shows up at the house of her ex-boyfriend, a doctor.
The season also features a fall monologue festival, Soul Food (Nov. 9-11).
