Sun Sep 15 1:30 "In Search of Insects" Bird and Nature Adventure at Warner Park - Alex Singer
2930 N. Sherman Ave, meet at the Warner Park Rainbow Shelter by Warner Pond, water and bathrooms available
Join Master Naturalist Alex Singer at Warner Park to search for and learn about Insects and Other Creepy Crawlies. Pollinators have gotten a lot of press these days, but there's lots of other roles that small critters play in the environment, from prey to predators to decomposers. We will look for activity at ant hills in the prairies, lift logs in the woods to see what's under them, dig holes in the dirt to see what's moving, and scour plant leaves and stems for actual denizens, eggs, and other signs of insects of all kinds. Use Seek or another app or guidebook to help you ID some of the bugs you find. Where do they find food and shelter? Where do they lay their eggs? What eats them and depends on them for survival?
