press release: In an effort to ensure that we continue to serve those most vulnerable in our community, we are updating our routine for this Friday's (March 13) legal clinic:

In light of the most recent news and developments regarding COVID-19, we are updating protocol for how we will serve individuals seeking help at our Friday legal clinic: Our legal clinic will still be held, however, we will be holding telephonic consultations only. If you are interested in speaking with an immigration attorney, please call our office at 608-640-4444 and give us your name and contact information. An attorney will reach out to you tomorrow, March 13, during our normal clinic hours of 2:00pm-5:00pm. We will keep this page updated with any developments for future Friday legal clinic dates. Please be patient with our volunteers and staff, as this is the first time we will be attempting this accommodation.

Debido a los desarrollos más recientes con respecto a COVID-19, estamos actualizando el protocolo sobre cómo serviremos a las personas que buscan ayuda en nuestra clínica legal del viernes: nuestra clínica legal todavía se llevará a cabo, sin embargo, solo realizaremos consultas telefónicas. Si está interesado en hablar con un abogado de inmigración, llame a nuestra oficina al 608-640-4444 y dénos su nombre e información de contacto. Free clinic aids immigrants with answers to legal questions

Immigrants with legal questions about their immigration status can receive help through a free clinic staffed by Madison-area attorneys and students from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

The clinic is open from 2-5 p.m. the second and fourth Fridays of each month at Christ Presbyterian Church, 944 E. Gorham St., Madison. Accessible by bus # 2, 5, 9, 27, & 28.

The Community Immigration Law Center, created by Madison-area attorneys and advocates for immigrants, offers twice-monthly walk-in clinics where people who might not otherwise have access to affordable help can receive information about immigration-law issues in consultations with attorneys.

Attorneys are available to offer consultations and case assessments on immigration issues, as well as help filling out immigration forms. Anyone with more complicated legal needs is referred to an immigration attorney.

The clinic is not formally affiliated with UW Law School, although about four students offer to work alongside the volunteer attorneys for each session. Volunteers are coordinated through the Latino Law Students Association.
