Holiday Refuse/Recycling Collection
city of Madison
media release: The Streets Division will be performing trash and recycling collection on Thursday, December 31, 2020. The drop-off sites will be opened for shortened hours.
If you have a regularly occurring Thursday collection of trash and recycling by the Streets Division, you must have your carts out to the curb by 6:30am on for pickup on this day. If you set your carts out late, you may miss your curbside pickup opportunity. Some neighborhoods may see collection vehicles earlier than usual. The Streets Division aims to have curbside collections completed by 11:00am.
The Streets Division drop-off sites will be open from 7:30am until 11:00am on New Year’s Eve.
Large item pickup will not occur Wednesday December 30, 2020, and Thursday, December 31. Large item pickup for these neighborhoods will be postponed until their next scheduled pickup day. Crews that would be assigned to large item collection instead will be reassigned to assist with snow plowing operations.
Collection of trash and recycling carts will continue without interruption on both December 30 and December 31.
Residents who were planning on large item collection for Monday, January 4, 2021 are encouraged to hold the large items until the next scheduled pickup day. Due to Tuesday’s snowstorm, and the likelihood of another later this week, personnel will be needed to continue snow cleanup duties.
There will be no refuse, recycling, or large item collection on Friday, January 1, 2021 in observance of the New Year’s holiday. The drop-off sites will also be closed.
If you normally have your refuse and recycling collected on Fridays, you must place your cart(s) to the curb for collection by 6:30am on Monday, January 4, 2021. If you normally have your refuse and recycling collected on Monday, you should place your cart(s) to the curb for collection by 6:30am on Monday, January 4, 2021 as well.
Be sure to set your carts out for pickup on time. Carts set out late may not be collected. Other collection services, such as large item pickup, may be temporarily delayed this week as Streets Division crews work to make up for the holiday.
The drop-off sites will be closed on New Year’s Day. They will reopen on winter hours at 7:30am on Monday, January 4, 2021.
The sites are located at 1501 W. Badger Rd. and 4602 Sycamore Ave.
The drop-off sites are currently on winter hours. They are open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:30am to 2:30pm.
