press release: Li Chiao-Ping Dance (LCPD) will transport audiences across the landscapes of Asian and Western identities, showing them a unique perspective of self-image in Fluid Measure, which opens in Milwaukee's Danceworks theater (1661 N Water St.) May 21, 2016. The concert will feature some of Artistic Director and choreographer Li Chiao-Ping's most notable works as well as her newest, titled "Fluid Measure."
With "Mandala," a solo reviewers have dubbed a meditation, "Chi," a moving piece with choreographic roots in the martial arts, and "in medias res," which premiered at the company's recent 20th anniversary production, Li explores what it means to identify with more than one culture.
"Milwaukee has a great dance community," said Chiao-Ping. "I really like what Danceworks has done and like supporting it by being a part of it. This is actually our third concert at Danceworks and I have found Milwaukee dancers and dance audiences to be a warm, smart, and welcoming group."
Li Chiao-Ping Dance will perform Fluid Measure three times in Milwaukee: Saturday, May 21 at 6pm & 8pm and Sunday, May 22 at 2:30pm. Tickets are $15 for the general public and $12 for students and seniors. They can be purchased in advance at http://danceworksmke.org or by phone at 414-277-8480 x6025
