This annual Four Lakes Traditional Music Collective celebration of folk and roots music always features a stellar lineup of performers, many of whom also participate in talks and workshops through the weekend. This year it includes Madison native Joel Paterson, who will present “The Guitar Stylings of Joel Paterson” at 3 p.m. on Aug. 6, following a main stage set at 1:15 p.m. (Paterson also will be in the band for Chicago rockabilly star Bailey Dee at 6:15 p.m., Aug. 5.) press release: After more than two years of limited opportunities to gather and hear live music, the 19th annual Sugar Maple Music Festival will present more than 10 acts on Aug. 5-6 over two days in beautiful W.G. Lunney Lake Farm County Park in Madison.
Audience engagement is what sets the Sugar Maple Music Festival apart, and this year, in addition to the main stage acts and Roots & Reasons stage workshops, professional-musician-led jams and a variety of children’s activities will be back.
Festival organizers strongly encourage attendees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and will closely monitor and comply with CDC recommendations and best practices. From bluegrass to blues to rockabilly to swing to Latinx music, here’s a look at the talented performers coming to the August 5-6 festival:
