AACTFest 2019

press release: ACT is sponsoring the Wisconsin Association for Community Theater Festival (AACTFest 2019), to be held at the Verona Area High School Performing Arts, January 18-20, 2019.  

AACTFest2019 invites community theaters from the American Association of Community Theater’s (AACT) 10 regions, to enter productions for adjudication. Wisconsin’s festival includes productions by four Wisconsin community theaters, including VACT, and culminates with two productions being chosen to advance to the AACT Regional Festival Competition in Kokomo, Indiana in April, with the chance to then advance to the National Festival Competition in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in June. 

Those interested in the festival can participate in several ways, either by volunteering to help VACT staff the festival and/or by attending some or all of the productions. 

Tickets are available to attend the entire festival or to attend each session of productions on January 19. Each session is comprised of two productions and begins at the time indicated below; productions will appear back to back. Sessions are timed and each production has a total of 80 minutes to be on stage, 10 minutes each for set up and take down, and 60 minutes for the production. 2:00pm:   Village Playhouse Theater (Wauwatosa):The House of Bernarda Alba

                Verona Area Community Theater: The Giver  

7:00pm:   Redbud Players (Columbus): One Day

                Sun Prairie Civic Theater: The Bad Seed  

On Sunday, January 20, there will also be a festival brunch held at Boulder Brewpub, in Verona, where festival awards will be presented and the shows chosen to advance to the next round of competition will be announced. Tickets for the brunch are also available on the VACT website.
