press release: Due to the increasingly urgent situation in South Sudan, Assistant Secretary of State Linda Thomas-Greenfield will not be able to join us in Madison on Friday. However, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary Melissa Clegg-Tripp will visit on her behalf.
Clegg-Tripp is the Director for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs in the Bureau of African Affairs at the U.S. Department of State.
Clegg-Tripp will hold a public talk and conversation about US-Africa relations on Friday morning.

Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield’s 34-year Foreign Service career includes an ambassadorship to Liberia (2008-2012), and foreign postings in Switzerland, Pakistan, Kenya, The Gambia, Nigeria, and Jamaica. In addition to the Bureau of Human Resources, her Washington postings include the Bureau of African Affairs (2006-2008) where she served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, and the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (2004-2006) where she served as Deputy Assistant Secretary.
