All Quiet on the Western Front

press release: View the 1930 classic film All Quiet on the Western Front at the Verona Public Library on Thursday, January 26, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The film follows a group of idealistic young men as they join the German Army during World War I and are assigned to the Western Front, where their patriotism is destroyed by the harsh realities of combat. Following the film screening, Professor Jonathan Pollack will lead a discussion. Join us from 5 to 5:30 p.m. for a light meal before the film screening.
This film is presented in conjunction with the exhibition World War I and America, on display at the library from January 3 through January 23, 2017. The exhibition is part of World War I and America, a two-year national initiative of The Library of America presented in partnership with The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, the National World War I Museum and Memorial, and other organizations, with generous support from The National Endowment for the Humanities.
