“Life has taught me that there are expanses of the unknown beyond my imagination.  In the spectrum of the world, I know that my existence is just a single star among the billions, yet many of the moments of life create that spiritual sense of wonder.  Simple moments happen to each of us and how we respond to them makes our individual place in the universe seem phenomenal.  Every morning my mother sang me down the stairs to the song, “Here she is Miss America,” this was a celebratory experience one that cemented both of us in the universe.  These recent mixed media pieces are simple but rich, celebratory but sad, and powerful yet quiet.  Each incorporates fiber, reflective writing, and painting on panels.” – Amy Mietzel
