press release: Photographing from a small farm tucked into the Driftless Area of SW Wisconsin, Anne and Tim Connor capture the moods and antics of their thoughtfully curated menagerie. Scottish Highland cattle, colorful chickens, rabbits, horses, dogs, and two precocious donkeys dot the hills of their 40-acre farm.
By working with the animals season after season, Anne and Tim have the luxury of studying their habits, quirks and personalities and have formed bonds with animals that are no longer viewed as livestock but also as pets. (Giving names to the first calves born on the property proved to be a mistake, as none have been processed, which was the original intent.)
Advocates of small-scale farming, the two strive toward sustainability while enjoying a wide range of activities on their farm with friends, family and other artists. They manage and host artist workshops on the neighboring Malcolm Stack Foundation, a parcel of 160 acres that was placed into a conservation easement with the Driftless Area Land Conservancy in 2001. They are currently working with the DACL to restore an Oak Savanna on the property.
While Anne & Tim photograph individually, they collaborate on many shoots, serving as each others’ photographers, photography assistants, and models. They collaborate on editing and printing projects and have shown their work in venues as diverse as The Center for Fine Art Photography, Overture Center for the Arts, University Hospitals, PhotoMidwest, the Playhouse Gallery and more.
They welcome the opportunity to share this work.
