press release: Friday, March 24, 7-9pm
ALL hosts the Madison release event for the book The Social Practice That Is Race, a conversation essay co-authored by Anthony Romero and Dan S. Wang. The Social Practice That Is Race, from the art publisher Wooden Leg Press, takes on the hard issues presented by the contemporary cultural politics of difference. Using art world references as a lens, the book raises questions about art and activism in our identity-obsessed climate. The evening’s conversation will also address current urgencies, local and global.
Anthony Romero is a Philadelphia-based performance artist, educator, and poet. He teaches at Moore College of Art and Design. Dan S. Wang is a writer and artist living in Madison whose texts have been published in book collections and museum catalogues internationally.
Special guest Jennifer Morales, author of the collection of short stories about race relations in Milwaukee Meet Me Halfway, published by University of Wisconsin Press, will moderate the discussion between Romero and Wang. Comments and questions from the audience are encouraged.
Copies of both The Social Practice That Is Race and Meet Me Halfway will be on hand for sale.
