Art + Food
press release: Combining the world of fine art and the culinary arts, the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA) will present ART+ Food on Tuesday, December 6. This latest installation of the ART+ event series will explore culinary endeavors as artistic pursuits, with a particular dialogue around process, the role of time, elements developed, and creative constraints. The panel will feature:
Laurie Beth Clark and Michael Peterson, UW Art Department faculty and collaborative duo behind Spatula & Barcode, a “social practice art” group whose primary focus is movements of food and food culture. Spatula & Barcode are included in MMoCA’s 2016 Wisconsin Triennial.
Jonny Hunter and Mel Trudeau, co-founders of Underground Food Collective
Tory Miller, Executive chef and co-owner of L'Etoile, Graze, Sujeo, and Estrellòn Restaurants
“Exploring topics that are central to people’s lives and revealing the creative spark is key to MMoCA’s mission,” stated Stephen Fleischman, MMoCA director. “We are pleased to welcome people to this lively and delicious occasion.”
ART+ is an event series that offers cross-disciplinary content and unique networking opportunities. The series uses art as a pivot point to explore a diverse range of topics. Each event features an uncommon pairing of content experts in a discussion on the identified topic, an interactive reception, complimentary hors d’ouevres, and a cash bar.
ART+ events are free for MMoCA members and employees of member businesses; $10 for non-members. Register online for the event. The ART+ is presented by the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art and is made possible through the generous support of Johnson Bank.
