Arts Education Fair
Overture Center 201 State St., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
press release: More than 30 area arts and cultural organizations will celebrate teachers and showcase their field trip and educational opportunities at Overture Center on Saturday, April 30, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in Promenade Hall with live prize drawings and refreshments.
“We are excited to host the Arts Education Fair at Overture Center to provide arts and cultural organizations the opportunity to exhibit their educational offerings to teachers and community providers,” says Ray Gargano, Overture Center director of programming and community engagement. “This exchange of information translates into exposure to the arts for many students, as well as networking opportunities for the local arts and education communities.”
Participating organizations include: Children’s Theatre Madison (CTM); Disney Musicals in Schools; First Act Children’s Theatre; Madison Area Music Association; Madison Ballet; Madison Youth Choir; Madison Ballet; Madison Children’s Museum; Madison Symphony Orchestra; Overture Center OnStage and Residencies; Wongai Africa
“At last year's event, I had a great time and got the opportunity to meet many of our area’s wonderful teachers, arts providers and arts non-profits,” said Erica Berman, CTM’s director of education and community engagement. “There was a lot of interest from educators who never heard of us before, and appreciation from teachers who already participate in our program.” CTM provides 30 student matinee performances for school groups each season, much like Overture’s own OnStage program.
Although individual educators are encouraged to attend, the school that registers and brings the most teachers will receive a field trip for 30 students to one of Overture Center’s OnStage performances. Admission is free, but limited. Registration information is available at www.overturecenter.org/artseducationfair.
