Ballet in Bloom
University Club 803 State St., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
press release: Madison Ballet will celebrate its “renaissance” and the upcoming season with Ballet in Bloom, a benefit event taking place on Friday, May 6 from 7:00-10:00PM at the University Club on the UW-Madison campus.
This year marks the 35th anniversary of Madison Ballet, an organization touching the lives of over 30,000 people each year through live performances, educational programs, and community outreach. The rich history of Madison Ballet began in the 1960’s with Tibor Zana, whose passion brought dance to the forefront in Madison and drew international stars like Rudolph Nureyev, Edward Villela, and Margot Fonteyn to perform with the company. This tradition of excellence continues today; Madison Ballet has become the 2nd largest dance organization in the state, with an established regional presence and a growing national reputation.
Ballet in Bloom will feature live music, small plates from the University Club chef, and local chocolate and craft cocktail offerings. Guests at the event can support Madison Ballet’s programs by purchasing a ticket to the Wine Pull, a drawing including many local and imported wines, or by choosing a leaf from the Giving Tree. The celebration will culminate in the announcement of Madison Ballet’s 2016-2017 Performance Season by Artistic Director W. Earle Smith. Tickets are $80 on sale now at Madison Ballet’s website.
Thanks to the generous donations and support of The University Club and all of our vendors, 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales will help fund the renaissance of Madison Ballet. Madison Ballet is in a time of transition and continues to rely on the generous financial support of businesses and individuals throughout the community. Their annual performances of The Nutcracker remain an essential part of many families’ holiday traditions, and they continue to break new ground with innovative productions like the original rock ballet, Dracula.
