media release: Join us in person for a heart lifting, energetic afternoon of al fresco music by the Madison Japanese Taiko Drumming Group - "BENI DAIKO!" This heart throbbing performance will be given in the open air under the Burr Oak Welcoming Area (BOWA) at the Farley Center.
Taiko has been a part of Japanese culture for centuries, and carries great cultural significance and is part of important celebrations. The name of the group Beni Daiko carries a specific meaning: "Beni" means "Deep color of Red" which represents Madison and "taiko" means "drum" in the Japanese language.
The term “Taiko” has also come to refer to the art of Japanese drumming, also known as “kumi-daiko.”
