Upcoming topics:
Sun Apr 28 1:30 "Wildflower Walk"
Join long time Preserve volunteers Glenda Denniston and Eve Emshwiller to look for Woodland Wildflowers at the UW Lakeshore Nature Preserve. We will stay on easy walking paths from Picnic Point up the hill to explore Bill's Woods where the Friends of Lakeshore Nature Preserve did their first restoration project begun in 2001 and continue to help restore native plants. Watch for the green of tender new growth along the path and the blossoms of spring ephemerals. It's fun to use a guidebook or app such as Seek to help identify wood phlox, violet, bloodroot, Jacob’s ladder, wild strawberry and other beautiful Wisconsin ephemerals that bloom in Spring when sunlight still reaches the ground before trees get their leaves.
