press release: First Saturday every month year round, meets at 1650 Sherman Avenue (Tenney Park Beach parking lot). Outings are free, fun, family friendly and educational. No registration required, no pets. Wear a mask and maintain social distance. Wear comfortable hiking shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather. Bring binoculars or a camera if you have one! Join Madison Historian Don Sanford for a free welcoming family-friendly guided walk on beautiful bike and walk paths along the Yahara Riverway that connects Lake Mendota and Lake Monona. Learn about the fascinating history of Lake Mendota, the Yahara Riverway, and Tenney Park from the Ice Age and Native Americans to early settlers and the present day. Along the way we will also enjoy the birds and quiet natural areas in the middle of the busy Isthmus. What did you learn about the history? What did you see that has changed over time?
