media release: Second Saturday every month, 2:30 pm, at Owen Park, 6021 Old Sauk Road, meet at Owen Conservation Park parking lot and follow easy walk paths. Outings are free, fun, family friendly and educational. No registration required, no pets. Wear a face mask, comfortable hiking shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather. Bring insect repellent and binoculars or a camera if you have one! For an adventure anytime, find a trail map and more info on the Friends of Owen Park Facebook and post your pictures and comments. Owen Conservation Park is a living Nature Classroom for a variety of Citizen Science and Academic Research projects. Join Beth Whitaker for a free family friendly Guided Walk to see Owen Park for yourself and places where projects are happening such as the Bluebird Trail boxes around restored prairies where Bumblebee Brigade and Monarch Tagging Research are being done. Follow easy trails in the Woodland Kettle and Morain where a UW student is doing interesting local non-venomous Snake Studies. Visit the Owen Conservation Park Ponds where the UW Limnology Department is doing research into Managing Runoff and Water Quality.
