Madison expat Blake Thomas has become the Garrison Keillor of Duluth, Minnesota. Whether staging plays, producing video content, or turning heads with his live radio theater podcast Take It With You, Thomas has come a long way from his weekly Honky Tonk Tuesday series at Mickey's. He’s a clever folk-rock songwriter beneath it all with a syrup-thick baritone voice, and his band for this show includes longtime Madison collaborators Mary Gaines, Josh Harty, Chris Wagoner and Chris Sasman. With Madison guitar slinger Louka Patenaude, accompanied by bassist John Christensen.
$20 ($15 adv.).
media release: A former Madisonian, you might have caught Blake at his long standing Honky Tonk Tuesdays at Mickey’s Tavern, or at Cafe Montmartre, Luther’s Blues, Kiki’s House of Righteous Music, The High Noon Saloon, or basically any other venue in town. In 2008, Isthmus dubbed his album, Flatlands, “Country Album of the Year.” He is now the producer, and head-writer, of the award-winning live radio theater podcast Take It With You.
Blake Thomas will be joined by Mary Gaines and Chris Wagoner (Gaines & Wagoner), Chris Sasman (Free Dirt), Josh Harty, and maybe some other friendly faces.
“Thomas’ music is not to be read about, but experienced.” -Atlanta Music Guide
