Jessica Jane Witham, left, plays former showgirl Billie Dawn who's being tutored by journalist Paul Verrall (David Neuser).
Garson Kanin’s 1946 comedy stars the luminous and hilarious Jessica Jane Witham as Billie Dawn, a smarter-then-she-looks former showgirl visiting Washington, D.C., with her clownish, Trumplike boyfriend, Harry Brock (Scott Stanley). It opened the night after the Senate voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, which brings up all kinds of feelings. The show is somehow both prescient and dated, and the cast bring a huge amount of energy and heart.
Madison Theatre Guild takes on Garson Kanin's send up of shady business in politics, 10/5-20, at 7:30 pm Thursdays-Saturdays (2 pm on 10/20) and 2 pm, 10/14. $20.

In the process of learning, Billie Dawn realizes how corrupt Harry is and begins interfering with his plans to bribe a Congressman into passing legislation that would allow Brock’s business to make more money.
