Join our annual Breakfast with OPEN speaker series featuring Peter J. Holbrook, CEO of Cream City Foundation (Milwaukee)! Why is philanthropy important to our LGBTQ community, specifically?

Holbrook says: "LGBTQ philanthropy matters desperately to the future of our community. It is about providing our goodwill to the LGBT communities we belong to and our active efforts to promote its wellbeing. Philanthropy is about creating a culture of giving of money and time to make life better for other people. You do not have to have a lot of money to make a difference. You only need to care!"

Peter will explore why LGBTQ philanthropy matters and what we can collectively do to make a difference. Local nonprofits that serve the LGBTQ community will be onsite to discuss ways you can get engaged with their mission!

Speaker Bio:

After a successful career in higher education administration and teaching, Peter is embracing the opportunity to serve the LGBT community of Southeastern Wisconsin as Cream City Foundation’s President & CEO. He believes that strategic philanthropy can be the catalyst for social change.

Peter is a visionary, values based leader, adept at building strong working relationships and networks to leverage the talents of others to strategically and operationally achieve sustainable results. Working from a worldview of full-inclusion and abundance, Peter sees collaboration as the key to enhancing and sustaining the human needs and wellbeing of LGBT people. He is determined to advocate, educate, and build positive relationships to foster a world of access and opportunity.

Holbrook is a commissioner with the Milwaukee County Commission on Aging and has been a member of Diverse & Resilient Board of Directors. He most recently served as Dean of the College of Business and Management at Cardinal Stritch University and holds a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from Stritch.

Peter has consulted with local nonprofits helping organizations with strategic planning and leadership development. He served as the lead community facilitator with the Violence Prevention Initiative of the Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin. A longtime resident of Southeastern Wisconsin, Peter lives in Wauwatosa with his spouse Tom Hoffman and dog, Charlie and cat, Nicholas.
