There'll be a rare opportunity to hear some inspiring music, soon to be released on an EARTH DAY HERITAGE music CD.
Come early (11:15a-ish) to hear a special in-house broadcast of EARTH DAY PORTRAIT, featuring the eco-moral texts of John Muir*, Aldo Leopold*, and Earth Day founder Sen. Gaylord Nelson, as read by their descendants. Patty Loew* reads connecting texts by Jon Becker. The words are set to a spectacular 23' symphonic music score by John Harmon.
Excerpts from HYMN TO THE EARTH by Edward Joseph Collins, who composed in Door County, will also be played. HYMN will be re-released on the forthcoming Earth Day Heritage CD.
Both PORTRAIT and HYMN were conducted by Marin Alsop, performed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and produced/mastered by EMI/Abbey Road Studio.
* Voiceovers recorded by Buzz Kemper and Steve Gotcher of Audio for the Arts.
