Looking for the purr-fect family-friendly, feline-themed activity in Meow-dison this weekend? Look no fur-ther than Madison Circus Space’s Caturday at the Big Top. With acrobatics, aerial acts, comedy and other circus arts purr-formed in celebration of our feline friends, it’s sure to be paw-some! Cat costumes encouraged, and donations support Madison Circus Space’s capital campaign.
press release: Madison Circus Space members cordially invite you to attend a family-friendly circus variety show celebrating our feline companions on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 7pm at our temporary location (84 N Bryan St, Madison, WI 53714). Caturday at the Big Top follows a troupe of rambunctious cats both big and small as they engage in various acrobatic shenanigans across a variety of aerial and ground-based disciplines.
This event is for all ages and proceeds will support our capital campaign as we continue to raise money for our permanent circus facility set to open this summer. Thanks to a generous challenge grant from the Madison Community Foundation proceeds will be matched 1:1!
Admission is a suggested donation of $15 for adults and $7 for kids ages five and up. Doors open at 6:30. Parking is limited. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase.
The mission of Madison Circus Space, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is to be a home for modern circus and movement arts and to foster appreciation for a variety of circus-related talent and creativity. Madison Circus Space emphasizes dance, creativity, fitness, and recreation for all ages, abilities, and aspirations, hosting classes, clubs, and performances that are affordable and open to the public. Madison Circus Space is the largest community of circus artists in Wisconsin, with 70 members, 50-plus hours of weekly programming, and 12 public activities per month. Since March 2016, the organization has provided 32 individuals from low-income households with approximately $1,500 in scholarship funds. Madison Circus Space is invested in serving youth and older adults.
Wisconsin’s largest circus arts training facility, owned and operated by Madison Circus Space and built specifically for training, learning, and performing circus arts, will open this summer at 2082 Winnebago Street. To date, the organization has raised $740,000. Every dollar up to $50,000 will be matched by Madison Community Foundation through Spring 2019.
