Chuck Burns & Ty Rone, B. Forrest & the Bodhi Band, No Name String Band
Alchemy Cafe 1980 Atwood Ave., Madison, Wisconsin 53704
press release:
The Americana/Roots scene has found its next voice in the overdriven harmonica and fierce vocals of Chuck Burns & Ty Rone. Their concert on Saturday, July 11th at Alchemy Cafe will showcase a new set of songs from their debut LP, "Leave of Absence," that transcend their roots in rowdy Appalachian blues licks and growled songs of sorrow to something much larger, fully orchestrated, and paradoxically subtle.
Capitalizing on a dynamic live set fostered by hours of street performing, the band is embarking on a national tour- taking a permanent leave of absence from their day jobs, and meandering south from their former home of New York City to New Orleans with a symbolic gesture of farewell to the stresses of sedentary life.
"I mean I've been wrist-deep in the grind working as a public school teacher in the south Bronx for 4 years now," laments harmonica player Ty Rone. "When we played a few shows down in New Orleans last year I kinda saw the possibility for a different life. We saw our chance, and we're taking it."
Supporting them on tour is rising star of the Chicago soul beat, B. Forrest and the Bodhi Band, and locals, the No Name String Band
