Climate Change Story Slam
media release: One night only! Storytellers from around Wisconsin will gather to share stories about how climate change has affected their lives, how they have coped, and what they’re doing about it. Stories may range from one-time encounters with the effects of climate change, to careers dedicated to fighting for a safe and sustainable environmental future.
Host Charles Payne, Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District’s second Artist in Residence, says “Through my storytelling events with the district, I hoped to explore different themes of water advocacy. [Because] Water makes a big difference in people's wellness. It is a public health issue, and the same can be said about climate change.” With this Climate Change Story Slam, “we aim to create a community where audience members are encouraged to come forward and share their personal climate change stories.” Read an example of Payne’s work here: Water mark - Isthmus | Madison, Wisconsin.
